Battlefield 6‘s multiplayer has just been revealed, showcasing a ton of destructibility, chaos, and international warfare, finally resurrecting that true BF vibe we all know and love. It’s gritty, realistic, and off the charts military, and I just hope it plays as good as it looks.

EA has just revealed Battlefield 6‘s multiplayer and gameplay, showcasing destructibility like we’ve never seen before. Nearly every part of every map is completely destructible, and you can bet that continuously raining hellfire over these levels will totally flatten them. The futuristic pseudo-militaristic vibes of 2042 are completely gone, with players now taking the role of actual soldiers stuck in the midst of chaos and the horrors of war—exactly what Battlefield is supposed to be.

Classes are making a major comeback, replacing the highly unpopular operators from 2042. Assault, Support, Engineer, and Recon are going to be your options in BF6, each with its own specializations. Of course, as their names imply, they’re meant for head-on combat, healing, provisions, sniping, and information.

What’s more, Supports (i.e. Medics) can drag downed allies across the map and into safety for a proper, behind-cover revive.

Gameplay will be oriented around these new classes and sprawling, destructible maps, requiring players to be on edge almost constantly, adding a ton of atmosphere and pressure to each match.

With the environment playing such a significant part in the game’s core design, vehicles are going to be much stronger, with tanks smashing through entire buildings or planes blowing a scraper sky-high. What’s more, players using explosives and other ordnance will have much more power in their hands, being able to open up new passages by exploding everything to Kingdom Come.

The Portal mode of 2042 is making a return, as are various modes we’ve seen in previous games. Maps will include various real-life locations, including Egypt, Gibraltar, Tajikistan, and even New York, US. Each map will support different forms of combat, from open-ended all-out wars to more grounded, urban conflicts.

Conquest, Breakthrough, Rush, Team Deathmatch, Squad Deathmatch, Domination, King of the Hill, and a new mode, Escalation, are going to feature in the game, with each map tailored precisely for the modes, which EA claims were “rigorously playtested” to be made to feel “true” to BF‘s gameplay.

Custom maps and experiences, made possible by a new version of Portal mode, will also allow for more community creativity.
