After more than 15 years away, EA Sports has announced it’s returning to the world of college basketball games. A new entry in the series is coming, and it’ll be the first since 2009’s NCAA Basketball 10.
“Bring the Madness. Let’s run it back,” EA said in its announcement, referring to March Madness. EA did not provide any specifics at all, however, but that’s not totally unexpected. After all, when EA announced it was bringing its college football series back, it did so with a basic social media post first to get people excited before the company eventually shared more details.
Extra Points obtained a memo from the Collegiate Licensing Company (CLC) detailing a request that the CLC put out trying to solicit bids to make a new college basketball game. It appears EA emerged the winner from a bidding process that included three formal bids. The CLC’s proposal called for women’s basketball teams to be included alongside men’s teams.
