Big Top at the center of the Theater, holding up a tickets sign with mannequins surrounding him

Music Man makes a surprise appearance in FNAF: Secret of the Mimic, yet he isn’t exactly how we remember him. Taking the form of the carnival’s usher, called Big Top, this animatronic may be stationary, but there’s nothing stopping him from using your body like a ticket.

Get your ticket ready and stay on high alert, for the Big Top’s less-than-friendly exterior will take an even darker turn as soon as the lights go out. Here is how to handle Big Top in FNAF: Secret of the Mimic.

Your short time in the Big Top Showroom is memorable, not only for Big Top’s creepy voice, but for the uncertainty of leaving this place alive. Big Top is harmless and (suspiciously) friendly when the lights are on. He switches up if the lights turn off, but this only happens if you beat one of the carnival games in the stalls surrounding Big Top. The awkward thing is that you need to complete multiple games in the Showroom, yet doing so causes a power outage every time. The lights turn off, and Big Top starts behaving differently. Big Top is now an oscillating security system (fun!), and alerting him to your whereabouts gets you killed. Thankfully, you get a checkpoint whenever you last completed a carnival game.

Don’t let Big Top see or hear you

So what are you supposed to do when the lights go out? The answer isn’t clear, and you might have got distracted like I did, staring at the number on the back of Big Top’s mannequins. These numbers aren’t relevant (…yet). Instead, avoid walking near the mannequins. A voice line will play if you accidentally bump into one, alerting Big Top to your presence. You cannot use these to distract him either because you cannot hide quickly enough after brushing past one (and the toy gun you’re holding doesn’t do anything). There are lockers around the perimeter, and your best bet is to wait in them or the stalls (behind cover) as Big Top’s head rotates past your direction.

While it’s a tad RNG-based, Big Top’s head could turn in the direction you need, allowing you to walk to the Overflow machine (Showroom entrance) by following Big Top’s head. Mannequins spawn randomly at each checkpoint, so you need to take the safe route back to the entrance without Big Top seeing you. The Overflow machine isn’t safe either, as the minute you enter the area, Big Top starts slowly walking towards you. Complete the Overflow puzzle as fast as you can. The lights will turn back on, and power is restored (albeit temporarily). Big Top is seemingly back to normal, but this won’t last long.

Win a grand prize

You need to complete at least two games in a different stall each time to get a free spin at the stall opposite the entrance (behind Big Top). The goal is to get the grand prize on the wheel. We recommend spinning the wheel every time you restore power, as you could get the grand prize in as few as two spins. We had to play three games and spin the wheel all three times to win. Getting the grand prize isn’t fixed to a particular number of spins, but you may want to play all the carnival games to unlock some achievements. Remember, the lights will go out, and Big Top will turn hostile every time you beat a game. Repeat the steps below until you land on the grand prize so you can escape this area:

  • Beat one of the carnival games in the stalls encompassing Big Top.
  • Quietly return to the Showroom entrance by avoiding the mannequins and using stalls/lockers to hide from Big Top.
  • Complete the Overflow puzzle.
  • Spin the wheel.

Reach the roof

After winning the grand prize, Arnold enters the upper level of the Showroom, but Big Top is fed up with being an usher and quits there and then. You now need to look at the Big Top Showroom floor and refer to the numbers on the back of the mannequins, corresponding to the hat they’re wearing, based on the board with headwear symbols on it. The code is randomized and based solely on which hats appear for you. Don’t forget to open the present and take the Trophy collectible before you leave.

But you’re not done yet, because Big Top wants his severance pay in the amount of: You. The Big Top chase is relatively simple, but quick reflexes are needed to adapt to his attacks. First, descend the staircase from the roof, and navigate across the narrow hallways, avoiding his foot slams from above. Crouch-walk through the crawlspace between the two floors, adjusting your path when Big Top’s foot slams down. The next area is full of mannequins you need to steer clear of, otherwise Big Top will hear you. Take it slow. This is the final section to get through as you rush down the stairwell again to conclude Big Top’s section.
