A massive treasure hunt is afoot in Disney Dreamlight Valley, and if you want to earn some special prizes, you need to get to work tracking down the special gold treasure cracks. These spots lead you to the treasure you’re after, but finding them can be tricky.

The valley is quite large, so figuring out where to look for these special spots can be pretty tough. It’s especially difficult if your village is fairly decorated, so knowing exactly what to look for before you start the hunt is a great way to make this generally tedious process a bit easier. Here’s how to find gold treasure cracks in Disney Dreamlight Valley.

Sparkling golden dig spots can pop up in any biome around the regular village in DDV for the entire duration of the Treasure Hunt event. This includes:

  • Dazzle Beach
  • Plaza
  • Peaceful Meadow
  • Forest of Valor
  • Glade of Trust
  • Forgotten Lands
  • Frosted Heights
  • Sunlit Plateau

You won’t find them on any of the DLC worlds, so stick to the main valley to find the treasure you’re seeking. These special cracks only appear for the limited duration of the Treasure Hunt event, so finding them while it’s active is crucial if you want to earn event prizes.

Only one gold crack spawns per day, so you have to scour the entire village to find just one treasure spot. The chosen daily biome is random for all players, too, so your location will likely be completely different from others.

What do gold cracks drop in Disney Dreamlight Valley?

All gold cracks drop a treasure hunt clue you must solve to find the actual treasure. The clue leads to a golden chest that has a Memory Shard and a few bonus goodies like Gems and coins.

The Memory Shards can be opened to piece together the location of the grand prize reward. Opening these memories is also crucial for finishing the Expert Treasure Hunter event duty.

Gold cracks only respawn once per day. It’s currently unknown whether a new one will appear if you haven’t found the old one, but we’ll test for this as the event progresses and update with our findings here. For now, though, it’s best to ensure you dig up the daily spot so you can make room for more to appear.

Tips for finding gold treasure cracks in Disney Dreamlight Valley

It can still be quite tricky to find the gold treasure cracks even when you know what you’re looking for, so here are some tips to make this task easier.

  • Change the visual time of day to night. These golden cracks sparkle and are quite lit up, so they’re much easier to spot at night. You can change the visual time of day at any point by navigating to the Settings, selecting the Graphics tab, and sliding the Offset Time of Day slider to your desired lighting.
  • Look behind all buildings and furniture. If you can’t find one of these cracks, there’s a decent chance it’s tucked away in a very inconvenient corner behind a massive building or furniture item. Be sure to check behind all items you have placed around the valley to avoid missing one.
  • Remove other dig spots, especially old event ones. When I first went looking for a gold crack, I couldn’t find one anywhere. After I started removing other dig spots, including a few leftover Cheshire Cracks, my first daily Treasure Hunt event crack finally spawned in. I’m certain it wasn’t there before, so clearing away other types of dig spots might be essential for giving these ones room to spawn.
