Gold Bottle Caps are a new one-time use item in Pokémon Go that can increase stats for a chosen Pokémon. They’re a limited item and hardly available in vast quantities, so choosing the Pokémon you want to upgrade the stats of is vital to making the most of the item.
But how do they work? And how do you get more?

What are Gold Bottle Caps in Pokémon Go?
Gold Bottle Caps are new items related to Hyper Trainer, which, when used, allow you to boost the stats of your Pokémon. You can only use a Gold Bottle Cap once on a singular Pokémon, and the Pokémon needs to be a Good Buddy or higher to be used.
You can select the Gold Bottle Cap from your inventory, and upon selecting which stats you would like to train, it is used. Once given, it’s time to start Hyper Training! You will need to complete various tasks themed to the stat you choose to increase the Pokémon’s stats to max. These include:
- Attack: Battle alongside your Pokémon while they are your buddy.
- Defense: Play together with your Pokémon, explore, and catch Pokémon while they are your buddy.
- HP: Explore alongside your trainee with your buddy, spin PokéStops, earn Candy, etc
Once you use a Gold Bottle Cap, you have 365 days to complete your Hyper Training tasks to max out that stat.
How do you get Gold Bottle Caps in Pokémon Go?
Gold Bottle Caps are extremely rare, and currently the only way to get one is to earn it in the new GO Pass Deluxe: Ancients Recovered event from June 23 to 29. You need to have the paid pass to get the Gold Bottle Cap.
Gold Bottle Caps will also expire after a set period, with the first one expiring on July 6. So you can’t hold onto them and use them at a later date. You can only increase one statistic as well, which feels pretty harsh considering trainers might need to unlock multiple stats to get a hundo.
Scopely has not yet confirmed when the next Gold Bottle Cap will be available, or if they will be purchaseable in the future. So all we can do is wait for them to announce further releases in later events.
