Daisy’s riddles are among the toughest challenges in Tales of the Shire. The goal is to discover secret locations around Bywater, but with nothing to go by except cryptic poetry, it’s hard to pinpoint the right spot. No wonder the young Hobbit needs your help!
If you’re struggling, here’s how to solve all of Daisy’s riddles in Tales of the Shire, that we’ve found so far.
How to solve Tales of the Shire riddles
To receive the first riddle in Tales of the Shire, speak with Daisy when she shows an exclamation mark above her head (indicating an available side quest). This should happen in the early stages of the Bywater Village Campaign, during Act 1: Become a Local. You can usually find Daisy near Willow’s Workshop, southeast of your Hobbit hole.
Tell Daisy that she “looks a bit puzzled,” then offer to help her solve the first riddle. The riddle will be listed under the Discoveries tab in your Tales Log. To solve the side quest, find the location described in the riddle – it’ll be marked by silver sparkles. Interact with the sparkles, and Daisy will show up to complete the quest.
Daisy’s first riddle solution
Here’s the first riddle in Tales of the Shire: “In the eye of the lake, there stands a tree. And in its roots, you’ll find what you seek.”
Sounds like you should be on the lookout for a lake with a tree in the middle. You may be thinking of the small islands north of the Village Square, but the solution is actually much closer to home.
The correct riddle location is the small pond south of Willow’s Workshop and Cotton Farm. Cross the flat rocks to reach the tree stump in the lake, and inspect it to complete the quest.
Daisy’s second riddle solution
Daisy’s second riddle becomes available during Act 2: Become a Village. Make sure you’ve completed the previous riddle before having another chat with Daisy. The second riddle reads: “In the heart of the forest, it calls. Where the river doesn’t run, it falls. Where the water doesn’t babble, it roars.”
Sounds an awful lot like a waterfall, doesn’t it? The problem is, there are a great many waterfalls in the forest east of Bywater.
The one you’re looking for is in the southeastern corner of the map, just east of the Tree Root Pool. You will see a small white bridge with a large waterfall nearby.
