Hushed Whisper wasn’t as popular as the other offerings in this year’s Festival of the Lost, but this bow is still one of Destiny 2‘s hidden gems—especially with a god roll.
We overlooked Hushed Whisper at first glance, focusing instead on Gunburn, Festival of the Lost’s other new addition, and the reprised Arcane Embrace. But thanks to a specific synergy between two of these perks, we’re happy to keep one copy of it in our vaults.
This weapon struggles as a Legendary bow (and one of two aligned to Strand), since it doesn’t get the bonus against enemies from the Wish-Keeper Exotic. Bows are also not in the best spot in the meta, but it may still be worth keeping a copy of this in your vault.
Here are our Hushed Whisper god rolls, based on perk data from d2foundry.gg.
Hushed Whisper PvE god rolls in Destiny 2

- String: Polymer String, Elastic String, or Natural String.
- Arrow: Straight Fletching, Fiberglass Arrow Shaft, or Helical Fletching.
- First perk: Tear, Slice, or Successful Warm-Up.
- Second perk: Archer’s Gambit, Explosive Head, or Hatchling.
The synergy between Tear and Archer’s Gambit is what gives Hushed Whisper its flavor, at least in our experience, and that’s why it’s our god roll. If you’re aiming for harder content, Archer’s Gambit lets you line up shots quickly thanks to its draw time bonus, and Tear will sever enemies in an area-of-effect on a precision kill. Gambit doesn’t need a kill either, so you can get it running with little setup.
If you’re struggling to land your shots without aiming down sights, you can ADS to line up your arrow and release the aim input just before letting it fly, so it still counts as hip-firing.
Still, that’s not the only option for Hushed Whisper, which has a few tricks that may complement your playstyle. Melee-focused players might get some use from having Collective Pugilism as a second perk, and Strand-based builds may also benefit from Hatchling as a second perk.
If that’s the case, your god roll depends on what you’d like to pair it with the most. Tear and Slice are good options, especially in harder content, but there’s another perk that may shine here, as seen below.

If you’re taking your new Hushed Whisper for a spin in an easier activity, however, it’s worth considering Successful Warm-Up in the third column over Tear. This gets you a consistent draw time buff triggered on kills (which are easier to come by with lower power deltas) and opens up room for a damage-boosting perk, such as Explosive Head, on column four. Precision Instrument is a bit hit-or-miss: it does grant you considerable benefits, but it’s tricky to keep it stacked.
For parts, we recommend going for accuracy and draw time. The former works well in general, and the latter helps you keep firing more quickly before triggering your perks. When it comes to bowstrings, Polymer boosts both accuracy and draw time, while Elastic grants you more draw time with a penalty in accuracy, and Natural doesn’t impact your draw speed but bumps other stats.
How to get Hushed Whisper in Destiny 2

Hushed Whisper can drop from Festival of the Lost activities. Destiny 2‘s classic Halloween-themed event runs until Nov. 11 (after Bungie gave it an extra week due to bugs). It may drop from Haunted Altars of Sorrow (when it doesn’t glitch out), the PvP-focused Red Rum(ble), and any Portal activity that has a FOTL Engram as your bonus drops.
After the spooky celebration ends, your next shot at getting this bow is probably in 2026. The good news is, the Call to Arms event kicks off just after FOTL, so at least you’ll have more shiny new guns to chase—including the Submersion heavy crossbow, which counts as a bow and will be focusable for the first time.
