The hype levels for Marvel Rivals’ new season are officially reaching critical mass, as NetEase Games has begun to tease the impending arrival of new content once more.
A short teaser video posted on Twitter/X shows what looks like a new section of Klyntar, the symbiote home world and planet led by the god of symbiotes, Knull. In it, there also appears to be a resurrection pod similar to Adam Warlock’s ultimate. And inside? We can take an educated guess.
It’s most likely Phoenix AKA X-Men member Jean Grey, who’s been leaked before as the season’s new hero, along with the vampire slayer Blade, who finally woke up from his months-long nap after being rescued from Dracula’s grasps in season one.
Twitch accidentally spilled the beans this past Friday that Phoenix and Blade are coming as new heroes in a blog about upcoming Twitch Drops, but season two’s in-game lore has been hinting at Phoenix coming to do battle with Knull for some time.
The symbiote god somehow managed to survive the heroes’ previous assault on Klyntar, leading them to enlist the help of “one of the primal forces of the universe” to deal with him, hinting at Jean Grey and her Phoenix alter ego, possessed by the all-powerful Phoenix Force.
Previous leaks hint that both new heroes are likely to be Duelists, but we won’t know for sure until there’s some official confirmation from NetEase. Considering the new season is now less than two weeks away, we should be getting some news about season three in the coming days to confirm what we already know, and some of what we may not.
The Twitch blog also mentioned “all-new team-ups, stunning Venomized costumes, and sizzling summer events that will turn up the heat,” so the latest season of the hero shooter will have a lot of eyes on it when it drops.
Season three of Marvel Rivals will begin on July 11 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
