The Wisdom of Sea and Sky expansion in Pokémon TCG Pocket is now live, and players might have a tough decision to make regarding the packs to open.
Unlike the two previous expansions, the latest expansion has two different packs to open. While much of the content for both packs might appear same, there are key differences. Regular players will understand which packs they should open, but it can get quite confusing for beginners (and more so if you’re starting with the new expansion).
With your pull resources beginning to be limited, let’s take a look at which pack you should open.
What is the best Wisdom of Sea and Sky pack to open in Pokémon TCG Pocket?
While the differences between the two packs Pokémon TCG Pocket are plenty, it’s important to note them before investing your resources. The major difference to keep in mind is the pack exclusives – cards that are available in only one of two types, and have higher rarities. Your pack-opening decision will largely depend on this factor, and the decks that you want to potentially construct, keeping the meta in mind.
Pack exclusives have different rarities, and some of them will fit the current meta better. This will also be a key factor in your decision-making. Lugia EX and Ho-oh EX are also exclusive to their packs, and you should open your pack accordingly. I am personally going for the former, as I want to build around Lugia EX (considering my pre-existing decks). The scenario might be opposite for you, and in that case, Ho-oh EX packs are the ones you should go for.
The two highlight Pokémon aren’t the only difference, and here are some major cards to look out for while opening the two packs (all are exclusive to one pack type).
Booster Pack | Highlights |
---|---|

Lugia | Lugia EX (![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Kingdra EX ( ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Shuckle EX ( ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Lanturn EX ( ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Espeon EX ( ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
We will have definite lists of all the cards available exclusively in the two packs soon, and you can check them out before spending your resources.
Considering the current meta of the game, both packs are equally viable. It will all boil down to the deck you’re planning to build first. If you’re a collector, you can get started with either of the two options, complete your collection, and move on to the other type.
