Nintendo and The Lego Company have teamed up once again for a new Lego set based on the original Game Boy. First teased back in January, the Lego Game Boy set is now available for pre-order from Lego.com, and is priced at $59.99. The Lego Game Boy will be released starting Oct. 1.
The Lego Game Boy is a 421-piece set and, according to Lego, “near 1:1” scale (it’s just slightly smaller than an original Game Boy). In addition to the Game Boy Lego replica, the set will include interchangeable, brick-built Game Boy cartridges based on The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening and Super Mario Land. The Lego Game Boy also features interchangeable lenticular “screens” that replicate the handheld’s Nintendo start screen, or feature gameplay scenes from the aforementioned games.
What the Lego Game Boy set doesn’t do is actually play any games. It also doesn’t feature any light or sound features. It’s simply there to be assembled and admired, in most cases wistfully.

The Nintendo Game Boy Lego kit is part of Lego’s larger offering of Nintendo-themed kits, which includes an elaborate remake of the Nintendo Entertainment System and a retro television, a $300 Lego Great Deku Tree from The Legend of Zelda, and a bevy of Super Mario kits.
