Evo 2025 is about to kick off in Las Vegas from Aug. 1 to 3, bringing some of the best fighting game players in the world to compete for the various titles on offer. But for those not competing, there’s something else that awaits those tuning in online to watch the streams, or spectating in person: the announcements.

There are always massive game announcements at Evo devoted to fighting games, and we expect this year not to be any different, especially when you look at upcoming games. But what do we expect to see show up at the show this year?

Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls announcements

PlayStation is giving Evo attendees a treat with the first playable demo of their upcoming Marvel fighting game, and we expect the game to get some announcements at the show, likely new playable characters being shown off for the first time during developer panels or even some big announcement during Marvel vs. Capcom 2 grand finals.

Who knows—maybe we will get another announcement, like a closed online beta for the Evo build of the game, or other places fans can try the game out in the future? We can dream.

2XKO goodness

While not an expectation as most of the lineup is now confirmed, Riot Games is going big at Evo with 2XKO ahead of the game’s closed beta in September. There’s a wealth of news coming out, as well as showcases with popular streamers. But maybe if we’re lucky, we will get one teaser of the game’s first post-closed-beta fighter? We can only hope…

Maybe some new games from SEGA and Warner Bros?

There’s a packed day one at Evo, featuring a bunch of panels. At the same time, there is a sprinkling of some things we expected. The addition of a SEGA and Warner Bros panel is an eye raiser. SEGA doesn’t have any major game to show off, so maybe we’ll finally get some Virtua Fighter news? And as for Warner Bros., both Multiversus and Mortal Kombat 1 are pretty much done in terms of future support, so what else would they have to show off but new titles?

Guess we will need to wait and see, but there are a bunch of other announcements and presentations day one that raise some eyebrows. So we could be in for a jam-packed event.

The usual DLC announcements

It wouldn’t be Evo without some new DLC character announcements for the various games at the show. Street Fighter 6 and Tekken 8 already feel like a given, but it’s the caliber of announcements that matter. We usually get some massive DLC announcements at Evo, featuring crossover characters.

You only have to look at last year to see what we mean. Terry Bogard (SNK) appeared in Capcom’s Street Fighter 6, and Lucy from Cyberpunk: Edgerunners was announced as a character in Guilty Gear Strive. Evo gives us the big surprises, and we expect this year to follow suit.

What do you expect to show up?
